A round table on “Formation of anti-corruption consciousness in society” was organized at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was held with the participation of representatives of the Agency of RK for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption, National Bureau for Anti-Corruption, the Academy and the international expert on anti-corruption issues Mr. Manfred Blumenschein.
Opening the meeting, Aigul Kosherbayeva, Vice-Rector of the Academy, highlighted that one of the effective instruments for preventing corruption is forming sustainable anti-corruption consciousness, which should be shared by each citizen.
This idea was supported by the representatives of the authorized bodies in the sphere of anti-corruption, who said that a lot of work is being done in this direction. Particularly, at the moment various projects are being implemented jointly with the civil society, which are aimed at building intolerance towards any manifestation of corruption and forming anti-corruption culture.
In turn, international expert Manfred Blumenschein shared German experience in the area anti-corruption, namely the activities that are being done in Germany for building anti-corruption consciousness in society. The expert pointed out that special attention, when performing this kind of work, should be paid to continuous informing citizens of main achievements of the country in the field of anti-corruption.
Zhuldyz Davletbayeva, Head of the Center for Anti-corruption Studies, stressed out that social networks and other media impact the formation of anti-corruption consciousness of people, therefore it is necessary to put anti-corruption themed video clips and memes on the internet, which shape right behavioral values in people.
Concluding the round table, the participants voiced the need of conducting joint research in the area of preventing corruption, and made some decisions on further cooperation.
