From May 29 to June 2, 2017, at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign experts Robert Weibel and Paul Meerts conduct a upgrading qualification seminar on the topic “Strategy, tactics and international negotiations skills”.
Civil Servants of the Presidential Administration, the Senate of the Parliament, the Office of the Prime Minister and other central and local state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan participate in the seminar.
The purpose of this seminar is to enhance the competence of Kazakhstan’s civil servants to effectively conduct international negotiations with representatives of other countries.
Robert Weibel (Switzerland) is the executive director and founder of the European Center for Negotiation and Decision Making (CENAD), an international expert/trainer for negotiations. For many years he worked closely with many universities and training institutions, such as the Geneva School of International and Project Studies, Vienna Diplomatic Academy. He conducted trainings for more than 50 ministers, more than 100 chairmen, heads of delegations and coordinators from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Lithuania, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta. He has many years of experience in cooperation with international organizations like the United Nations, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the WTO, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria and many others.
Paul Meerts (Netherlands) is a senior researcher at the Dutch Institute for International Negotiations “Clingendael”, and he is also a member of the Coordination Committee of the Clingendael Program for International Negotiations and a member of the International Expert Council of the Journal of International Negotiation (JIN). Dr. Meerts conducted numerous trainings in many countries on negotiating. He is the author of books as “Diplomatic negotiations, foundations and evolution”, “Imposition of a ban on” explosion “or” bomb “,” Evolution of the process of international negotiations”, etc.
During the seminar experts based on successful examples will share the experience of using the technique of conducting international negotiations. After the end of the seminar it is expected that civil servants will master the entire process of conducting international negotiations.
Experts will apply a number of methods of interactive training – presentations, role games, discussion of case studies, public appearances, video recordings and individual briefings, etc.
After the seminar listeners will be awarded certificates.
