This year, the Academy of Public Administration is planning to launch a project aimed at training government officials in the principles of “green,” low-carbon, and sustainable development. This was announced by the rector of the Academy, Yerlan Abil, at the International Forum in Astana.
During the forum, the rector discussed how the system of professional training for civil servants in Kazakhstan, represented by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is implementing innovations and contributing to the achievement of a “green” economic transformation.
“The environmental agenda related to climate change and energy sustainability is highly relevant for Kazakhstan as an active participant in economic and political relations across the Eurasian continent. Our country is actively working in all directions and is ready to contribute to the successful achievement of global development goals. In this regard, significant tasks are entrusted to the government agencies. The Academy acts as a guide and translator of the values of the ‘green’ agenda through the development of competencies for civil service personnel. The implementation of the principles of a ‘green’ economy is carried out both through educational programs and through the research component. This year, the Erasmus+ project on ‘Strengthening Higher Education in the Water Sector for Climate Resilience and Security in Central Asia’ will be launched” noted Yerlan Abil.
He also shared the Academy’s plans regarding the training of civil servants.
“The Academy is participating in the project ‘Training of Public Officials in Central Asian Countries to Promote Assessment of Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystem Resources,’ which involves training in nexus assessment in public administration. I would like to mention that this year, the Academy is planning to launch a project to train government officials in the principles of ‘green,’ low-carbon, and sustainable development,” said the rector.
