Kazakhstan and Afghanistan: prospects for expanding cooperation in the training of public servants

Today, stability in the Central Asian region cannot be viewed without resolving the “Afghan issue”. Kazakhstan attaches great importance and plays an important role in ensuring the peace process and the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

One of the areas here is the training of Afghan students who, upon their return, will contribute to the peaceful construction of Afghanistan. Thus, in the period up to 2021 more than a thousand students from Afghanistan will study in Kazakhstan.

At the meeting with the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration Fatima Zhakypova, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Kazakhstan Mohammad Farhad Azimi highly appreciated the contribution of Kazakhstan to the training of young professionals, including civil servants.

Annually, since 2015 within the Agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education of the IRA citizens of Afghanistan have studied at the Academy. Namely, 4 people have already been trained in the “Regional Development” and “Public Administration” Master’s Programs, another 2 civil servants are currently studying in the “Public Policy” program. In addition, 5 IRA Foreign Ministry staff were trained at special trainings.
