METHODOLOGICAL SCHOOL ON DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

From April 29 to May 6, 2022, in the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held training seminars of the Methodological School on Data Collection, Analysis, Interpretation and Application in Public Administration.

The training seminars were designed for experts and analysts dealing with public administration and public policy issues, making managerial decisions.

Through the Methodological School’s program, participants gained in-depth knowledge on how to build research design, apply quantitative and qualitative methods, conduct data regression analysis, as well as visualize and interpret information. They got acquainted not only with the basic concepts and ideas of research methodology, but also learned how to apply quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis, such as surveys, focus groups, interviews in their research.

In addition to the theoretical component of the seminars, the participants learned how to write analytical reports and use analysis tools and programming languages: R and R studio, Python, Stata, EViews, SPSS and Statistica.

The work of the Methodological School was solemnly opened by the Rector of the Academy Yerlan Abil, who made a presentation on the topic “Analytics in Public Administration: Decision Making Based on Data Analysis”. The main speakers of the training seminars were leading experts and scientists from higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Great Britain. For instance, Baurzhan Bokaev, Vice-Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Alua Zholdybalina – Deputy Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Asel Zhunusova, Professor at the Institute of Management of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

More than 30 undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers of the Academy took an active part in the work of the Methodological School. At the end, all participants were awarded certificates.
