“Who is the leader? This is a person who should be able to systematically determine the necessary steps and implement them practically based on the goals and objectives set by the time and country’s leadership. The President has determined our main objective for the near future: to improve the quality of life of Kazakhstanis. We must take action that brings us step by step towards this goal. The goal is clear: to make people’s lives better, richer, more beautiful.” This characteristic was given to the leader by a prominent statesman of Kazakhstan Zhanibek Karibzhanov.
Today, on the day of his 70th birthday Zhanibek Karibzhanov presented his book “Zhadymda Zhaqsy Zhyldarym” to the Academy’s staff and students. Both the book itself and the author’s work biography are interesting. Such people are called “self-made” today.
Before becoming the Minister of Agriculture of the Kazakh SSR in 1988, Zhanibek Karibzhanov went a long way from an economist to a director of a collective farm. He worked in the Turgai regional agricultural industry, and then in the State Agro-Industry of the Kazakh SSR.
In independent Kazakhstan Mr. Karibzhanov worked in the Office of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Advisor to the President, Vice-Speaker of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
His diplomatic career includes the work as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the PRC from 2001 to 2007, and from 2003 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, Mongolia and Korean People’s Democratic Republic concurrently. From 2010 he was a Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Kyrgyzstan.
His contribution to the development and strengthening of the independence of Kazakhstan was personally noted by the President during the meeting on February 20 this year. Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that in his time Zhanibek Karibzhanov held important positions in the civil service and fulfilled with great responsibility all the duties assigned to him.
Erkin Dusipov, Vice-Rector for Administrative Issues and Social Work, on behalf of the Academy congratulated Mr. Karibzhanov on his anniversary. His colleagues and countrymen also participated in the event. The author presented the book “Zhadymda Zhaqsy Zhyldarym” as a gift to the Academy’s library. Participants could also get their own copy of the book with an autograph.
