Within the framework of the 32nd IPMA World Congress «Project Management in the Era of Digital Transformation» was held the competition IPMA Global Project Excellence Awards – 2021 in St.Petersburg (Russia) on 21-23 September, 2021. Different projects from 70 countries of the world participated in that competition, from Kazakhstan was presented a project «QAZAQSTAN PROJECT MANAGEMENT AWARDS – 2020».
In the nomination «Social Projects/Regional Development/Public Works» the Kazakhstan’s project was recognized as the best and became the gold medalist of the Competition. In this category, projects from Italy and South Africa became silver and bronze medalists.
Looking at details, at the initiative of the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, in order to stimulate the use of project management tools by the state bodies by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Office of the Prime Minister, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) a national competition was organized in Kazakhstan for the first time in 2020.
The main goal of the competition is to support government agencies, organizations that are actively introducing and applying project management methods and tools in their activities, motivating civil servants to develop personal and professional competencies.
To conduct QazPMA-2020 were formed committee and a jury of the Competition – representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abil E.K., Head of the Office for Monitoring the Implementation of National Projects Evniyev A.K., Director of the Kazakhstan Association for Project Management Khussainova M.Kh., President of the Union of Project Managers Tsekhovoy A.F., President of PMI Chapter Kazakhstan Zhevno Y., International Judge and Assessor for Project Management Bugubaev A.M., Project Manager of the Competition Zhumagali M.
Competitive works of QazPMA-2020 participants were evaluated by assessors from among project managers of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan certified according to international and national standards.
Thanks to the joint efforts of all stakeholders, the holding of the «QAZAQSTAN PROJECT MANAGEMENT AWARDS – 2020» сompetition in 2020 contributed to the development of project management in the country. In general, this Competition has become one of the most significant events for Kazakhstan in the field of project management.
The IPMA World Congress is the world’s largest professional project management event. More than 900 professionals from more than 70 countries of the world are involved in its work, including the world’s leading project management experts, professionals in various industries, heads of global companies, business representatives, the media, as well as scientists involved in project management.
