3. Politics and security of the Central Asian region

Short course description:
The course is aimed at studying the strategic importance of the region in the system of
international relations, bilateral and multilateral political processes in the Central Asian region,
the main trends and development problems in the region
Expected learning outcomes:
They are able to analyze historical, geopolitical and geo-economic processes in the Central
Asian region, the goals and objectives of the foreign policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in
the region.

1. The Turkic world in the system of international relations
Credits 3
Semester 2 (Spring semester)
Short course description:
Studying the development model of Turkic-speaking states at the present stage; Research and
analysis of the internal and foreign policies of Turkic-speaking countries at the present stage;
Study of the current state and main stages of development of politics and economics of the
countries of the Organization of Turkic States; Consideration of the dynamics of development
of bilateral relations between the countries of the Turkic world, identification of general trends
and individual features, as well as forecasting the situation in the region.
Expected learning outcomes:
Have an idea of the current geopolitical state of the countries in the region; know the features
of the socio-political structure and dynamics of political processes in the Tyuk world; know how
to navigate the economic, environmental, demographic, migration processes occurring in
Turkic-speaking countries; are able to analyze global and regional security problems in relation
to the region.
2. Practical aspects of diplomatic activity

Semester 2 (Spring semester)
Short course description:
The course program substantiates the importance for a diplomat of knowledge of the basics of
psychology, cultural, digital diplomacy, practical skills of working in a foreign institution, as well
as the peculiarities of the formation of mentality and way of thinking in the host country.
Expected learning outcomes:
Know the psychological features of diplomatic activity; have an idea of the influence of
psychological factors on the process of making political decisions, and political processes in
general; know the peculiarities of the culture of the host country, have an idea of the
peculiarities of carrying out diplomatic activities in crisis situations.
3. The Near and Middle East in the system of international relations

Semester 2 (Spring semester)
Short course description:
Research and analysis of the domestic and foreign policies of the countries of the Near and
Middle East at the present stage; Study of the current state and main stages of development
of politics and economics in the countries of the Near and Middle East; Consideration of the
dynamics of development of bilateral relations between the countries of the Near and Middle
East, identification of general trends and individual features, as well as forecasting the situation
in the region; Study of the “Islamic factor” in the countries of the Near and Middle East.
Expected learning outcomes:
